Benjamin Xavier Valadez, a tattoo artist from Corpus Christi, Texas, brings two years of professional experience to Hyper Inkers. His journey began unexpectedly while studying biomedical science, when YouTube videos about tattoo artists sparked his interest.

After realizing his academic path wasn’t fulfilling his creative side, Ben ordered a basic tattoo kit from Amazon and started practicing on synthetic skin and willing friends.

This initial practice led him to focus on building an art portfolio that secured his apprenticeship at one of the top tattoo studios in the region. where his dedication to, learning, and gaining experience built his foundation in the craft.

Ben’s work ethic centers on quality over quantity. He specializes in color mash-up tattoos that blend different styles—particularly color realism mixed with animated characters.

This preference stems from his early artistic development, when he taught himself to draw by copying reference photos from movie and video game covers. The color aspect of tattooing appeals to him because it resembles painting, with the challenge of matching ink colors to reference images being one of his favorite parts of the process, making him a go-to realism tattoo artist in San Antonio for clients seeking vibrant and detailed work.

What inspires you as an artist?

What inspires me most are other artists. Just seeing the possibilities in their work and knowing that one day I’ll be able to create something that inspires other artists as well is my biggest driving force.
